Bucher 2017 Year-End Review

The demand for lightweight, high-quality cabin equipment increased once again in 2017. This has enabled the Bucher Group to invest in the expansion of its production plant in Sinn-Fleisbach, Germany. Among other things, a new wet paint booth was installed. Now the complete value chain for processing Honeycomb panels can be covered in-house. This high degree of vertical integration enables Bucher to influence the quality at every stage of production and react agilely to our customer demands.
Foremost however, numerous product improvements and innovations were presented in 2017:

Galleys and misc. monuments for the latest wide-body aircraft

In the line-fit segment, we successfully delivered the world’s first galley shipset for the new A330-900neo for the launch operator TAP Air Portugal. As a result, we have steadily increased our market share on the A330 and are now the market leader on this platform. In 2017, we also launched the development of a new galley system for the upcoming Boeing 777-9X.

In addition, we expanded our activities in the retrofit market in 2017. Following the successful completion of various challenging programs in terms of lead-time and technology, we are now even better positioned to bring our skills and strengths to new, complex projects. In the retrofit market, we can revert to a constantly growing product portfolio of galleys, front row monuments, partitions, doghouses and crew work stations.

Medical equipment for helicopters and passenger aircraft

On the new Airbus H135 with Helionix cockpit we have already obtained the approval for our EMS Kit AC67 and successfully completed the installation of the first customer, DRF Luftrettung. In addition, we also achieved the approval for our EMS kits for installation on the new H135 EMS floor as well as for Airbus’ multifunctional floor, so that customers now have the option to choose, the right solution from the various variants. On the H145 we were able to further expand our market position with our flexible and modular HEMS equipment AC70. More than half of all H145-T2 HEMS operators worldwide now trust in Bucher’s equipment.

In 2017 we were also able to increase our market share with our patient stretchers for passenger aircraft. More than 100 satisfied airlines worldwide use the universally applicable and robust stretchers daily to transfer patients worldwide.

Mechanisms for premium applications

For first and business class seat manufacturers as well as manufacturers of business jets we were able to start new and interesting projects. Customers value our ability to develop and manufacture mechanisms that function reliably and easily within small spaces.

2017 was another successful year for the Bucher Group. Innovative products enabled us to expand our product portfolio and our market position. Bucher has been a reliable partner in project management for 65 years, which means that high quality products and reliable services have been delivered on-time for 65 years. This customer orientation will remain at the heart of our business in 2018 and we are convinced that this is the key to another successful year.
